Day 1: Arrive in Windhoek and pick up your rental car. Drive to the nearby town of Okahandja to stretch your legs and explore the local market. Continue on to the Etosha National Park for an afternoon game drive. Spend the night at one of the park’s rest camps.
Day 2: Rise early for a morning game drive in Etosha before heading north to Damaraland. Stop en route at the Petrified Forest and Burnt Mountain. Spend the night at a lodge in Twyfelfontein or Palmwag Concession.
Day 3: Explore Damaraland, searching for desert-adapted wildlife such as elephants, rhinos and lions. Visit ancient rock art sites such as Twyfelfontein or the Organ Pipes. Spend the night under canvas at a wilderness camp in Palmwag Concession or Ugab Terrace Camp.
Day 4: Drive west into the Skeleton Coast National Park. Stop to explore shipwrecks and seal colonies along the coast before continuing on to Cape Cross Lodge for the night.
Day 5: Get up close and personal with more than 100,000 Cape fur seals at Cape Cross Seal Reserve before driving south through Kaokoland towards Sesriem in Namib-Naukluft National Park. Spend the night at Sesriem Campsite or Desert Dune Hotel & Chalets.
Day 6: Rise early for a sunrise hike up spectacular Dune 45, then spend the day exploring Sossusvlei’s otherworldly landscape of red dunes, white salt pans and ancient petrified forests. Return to your accommodation for sundowners and dinner under the stars.
Day 7: Drive south through NamibRand Nature Reserve towards Solitaire. Stop en route at Welwitschia Plains and Hiddenvlei to look for desert wildlife such as springbok, ostrich and Hartmann’s mountain zebra. Arrive in Solitaire in time for dinner at The Apple Bar – famous for its apple pie! Spend the night at Gondwana Canyon Lodge or Desert Homestead Outpost Lodge
Day 8: Head east out of Solitaire towards Fish River Canyon – one of Africa’s largest canyons. Hike down into this natural wonder (permits required) or simply enjoy views from one of the many lookout points along
